Facing Nantucket Sound, the North Shore of the Island features "quiet-water" beaches and views of the arriving and departing steamships and large and small sailing vessels. The North Shore areas include Brant Point, Cliff, Dionis, Monomoy, Pocomo, Polpis and Nantucket Town.

The exciting heavy surf of the Atlantic Ocean, with beaches stretching from Tom Nevers Bluff to Madaket, makes the Island's South Shore an ever-popular destination. The South Shore includes Cisco, Miacomet, Surfside and Tom Nevers.

Fishing, wide beaches and a small harbor make the West End of the island special, but its spectacular sunsets are always its most talked-about asset. The West Side includes Madaket and the islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget.
